Celebrated RABINDRA JAYANTI at KALA KUNJ

on Sunday,the 17th of May,Roataract Club of Calcutta North East celebrated RABINDRAJAYANTI at KALA KUNJ along with their Parent Club Rotary Club of Calcutta North East and Innerwheel club of Calcutta North East.The programme commenced with a play performed by the members of Innerwheel Club.This was followed by our Programme titled DARUNO AGNIBANEY RE.Our song and dance programme consisted of 6 beautiful Tagore compositions.Our members sang and danced as the audience expressed their support through cheering and applause.

PETS - SETS and COTS 2009

Rotaract Club Of Calcutta North East has hosted PETS SETS and COTS for the year 2009-10 on 3rd May ,2008 at Aikatan in EZCC. President and secretary elect's of different Rotaract Clubs have attended the event. The registration for PETS and SETS was from 9:30 am . DRCC for the year 2009-10 Rt Chitalekha Ghosh and DICC Rt Rajani Mukherjee also attended this event. This event was followed by fellowship and lunch. The registration for the COTS was from 2:30 Pm. Club officials of different Rotaract Clubs attended the sessions. Rt Dr Archana Ghosh of our parent club Rotary Club Of calcutta North East had also attended this event.

                        2009 Rota Cricket

The February sun scripted a memorial day-out for cricket fanatic Rotaractors today as our club organized the Rota Cricket at the Deaf and Dumb School grounds.

Rota Cricket being a district event, had to be a grand affair, and we took to the preparations almost half a month ago. Every cricketing detail was kept in mind and planned properly. Therefore, when the two teams took to the field, the excitement was evidential.

The players were divided into two teams - Red Team, led by Rtr Aanton and Blue Team led by Rtr Shankar. Having won the toss the Red team chose to field first. The Blue Team began on a positive note and bludgeoned the bowlers to 234 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Rtr Rahul (of RC Cal South West) smashed a brilliant century while the skipper of the Red Team pocketed three wickets.

In reply, the Red Team fell short by more than 75 runs with their batters under tremendous pressure of keeping up to the run rate. For the Blues Rtr Subhasish (of RC Cal North East) bagged three important wickets.

The chief guest for the program was the legendary Bengal speedstar D.S Mukherjee, who said “I can see talent in many of you playing here today. It’s heartwarming”.

As Team Blue lifted the winners trophy (a running Trophy this), the trophy for the Man of the Match and the Best Batsman went to Rtr. Rahul while the Best Bowler trophy was won by Rtr. Subhashish. Token of Appreciations and individual medals were given to the guests, dignitaries, sponsors and the players of both Teams, as well as the umpires.

Our club organized the selections and practice of the 2009 ROTA CRICKET at the Deaf & Dumb School, we also distributed food packets to the hostel students there. As the cricket enthusiastic students joined us on the grounds we spent some time with them with bat and ball and distributed snack packets for refreshments.
